For more than a decade, the Destination Think team has led candid discussions about modern destination management. Now, we’re inviting you to the conversation in a new way. Together with Tourism Revelstoke, we have launched the Think Revelstoke podcast, a show about the future of this booming British Columbia ski town – and the future of tourism for everywhere else.
Along the way, we speak with Revelstoke residents and destination management leaders including Marsha Walden, President and CEO at Destination Canada; Cathy Ritter; former Director of the Colorado Tourism Office; Chief Frank Antoine of Bonaparte First Nation; and Damcho Rinzin, Chief Tourism Officer at the Tourism Council of Bhutan.
Think Revelstoke is for the world’s destination marketers, managers, and place-makers as we imagine a thriving future together in destinations across the world. The show’s hosts are two Revelstoke locals, Robyn Goldsmith, Destination and Sustainability Manager at Tourism Revelstoke, and Rodney Payne, CEO at Destination Think.
Why Revelstoke? This small city in the Rocky Mountains is working through tourism challenges facing DMOs everywhere as it plans for the future. Housing and affordability, tourism’s impact on the local quality of life, the good and the not-so-good effects of rapid tourism growth, truth and reconciliation with First Nations, and risks fuelled by the climate crisis are among the key topics.
Revelstoke 2073 is the ongoing destination management planning process led by Tourism Revelstoke and Destination Think. The project is helping locals imagine a truly long-term vision for tourism and ways to make it happen. This podcast is part of our community engagement and is being broadcast weekly on Stoke FM, a Revelstoke community radio station.
