Update: Forum 2020 has been postponed.

However, in April 2020, Destination Think hosted Virtual Forum 2020 to help DMOs adapt to the COVID-19 crisis.

Join Forum 2020 in Ottawa to collaborate with travel industry leaders, destination marketers and placemakers to find solutions to our greatest challenges.

This is a hands-on, action-oriented event. Forum 2020 gives you the chance, at last, to contribute to plans with tangible outcomes that address the travel industry’s greatest risks in light of the global climate crisis. Your voice matters and your role is important.

Together, we will build practical strategies to decarbonize travel and reimagine the future of tourism.

Destination Think is hosting Forum 2020 because the need has never been more urgent or important. Over the past decade, our team has worked with hundreds of tourism destinations. We have seen first-hand the rich benefits that tourism and travel bring to people and communities. At our core, we know that travel can change the world for the better. For this to continue, travel leaders must confront the challenges ahead with ingenuity, creativity, and, most importantly, a spirit of collaboration, which is why we are proud to host Forum 2020 in partnership with Ottawa Tourism, our destination sponsor.

The global climate emergency poses a great risk to the travel industry. Its leaders share the responsibility to address this challenge, especially given the industry’s environmental impact and its contribution to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

The crisis also gives travel leaders an immense opportunity. At a global level, decarbonization is among the most powerful ways to increase prosperity and quality of life for all. Innovators in our industry make the planet a better place to live by leading environmental restoration. In doing so, they also reduce business risks. Destinations and businesses can best maintain the social license they need to operate through proactive and compassionate strategic planning, especially as more people endure the localized effects of the climate crisis, feel the negative impacts caused by mass tourism, and witness the groundswell of change that is needed today more than ever.

Hear what some participants had to say about our previous Forum event:

“I thought it was amazing, quite frankly. Destination Think put on an event that, for me, was time well spent. […] It’s critically important to meet C-level executives in the industry who talk about how they do what they do in their part of the world.”

-Hugh Riley, Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer at Caribbean Tourism Organization
