We are excited to announce that Carly Pereboom is moving into the role of Executive Manager of Destination Marketing. Carly, who has been part of the Destination Think team dedicated to Campbell River, Canada, since we started working with the city, will guide Destination Campbell River (DCR) in its work to promote the community’s tourism experiences and assist its visitors.

Destination Think began providing full-service destination management for the City of Campbell River following a successful bid in 2017. Carly and our team operate DCR in its entirety, which is a unique responsibility among our client projects that includes providing services as DCR’s agency of record and strategic consultancy.

Carly Pereboom, Executive Manager of Destination Marketing

Carly is a skilled marketing and storytelling strategist who has worked for years with regional government bodies and community destination marketing organizations (DMOs). She has become known for her ability to lead collaboration and create meaningful opportunities for engagement.

After four years of destination development and marketing in northern Vancouver Island, where Carly led and developed the five-year Tourism Strategic Plan for the District of Port Hardy and the rebranding of Visit Port Hardy, she relocated with her family to Campbell River, where she first integrated into the community through volunteering to be on the Tourism Advisory Committee when it formed in 2017.

Carly’s expertise and innovative approach to marketing and brand messaging stood out. Destination Think quickly brought Carly into its team to manage marketing and branding efforts in Campbell River, demonstrating how an innovative approach can reinvent the DMO model with lasting and impactful strategic processes.

With her direct and unconventional approach with stakeholders, content creators and user-generated content, Carly has delivered authentic, unique and poignant stories within destinations. Her approach has created advocacy from the ground up, building pride of place and positive sentiment with locals and visitors alike. It is this collaborative approach that will be at the forefront of her work.

Her passion for tourism, her work with developing Destination Campbell River over the years, her personal connection to the community and her inspiring attitude are invaluable for what we are all aiming to accomplish next. Congratulations, Carly, on your new role!
